Quote of the Year

You just have to laugh when you read this:

"People were probably wondering: 'If they take away Pluto, is Rhode Island next?' "
--Richard Binzel of MIT

Ahh, the little ones always get picked on, don't they??

The quote that made me laugh was in Newsweek: "The whole episode called attention to the fact that astronomers had never formalized exactly what they meant by "planet." It had always seemed obvious, but the definition that seemed to be emerging by default—"something orbiting the Sun, about the size of Pluto, or bigger"—seemed embarrassingly ad hoc."
